Public Hearing on proposed ordinance amendments
TOWN OF LITTLE COMPTONRHODEISLAND
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER XIV- Zoning Ordinance and CHAPTER IX – Beaches, Harbors & Recreational Areas of the Little Compton Town Code
To amend Chapter 14 of the Little Compton Town Code by amending Section 14-7-1,g,h,I as they relate to sign illumination and by inserting a new Section 14.8 Outdoor Residential and Commercial Lighting Ordinance and renumbering the remaining sections of Chapter 14. In summary this section will define allowable reasonable use of outdoor lighting for health, welfare, privacy, safety, security and productivity, commerce and enjoyment.
And to amend Chapter 9 of the Little Compton Town Code by adding a new section 9-5, 9-6 and 9-7 all relating to Plastic Bags, Balloons and Plastic Straws. In summary these new sections propose to protect the wildlife and coastal ecosystems of Little Compton, the enjoyment of nature, and the health, safety, and welfare of the Town’s residents and visitors by governing use of plastic bags, balloons, and plastic straws.
A full text of the above proposals may be obtained in the office of the Town Clerk between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday, viewed on the town website www.Littlecomptonri.org or at the Brownell Library during normal business hours.
At the public hearing opportunity shall be given to all persons interested to be heard upon the matter of the proposed amendment. The proposal may be altered or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because of the views expressed at the public hearing. Any such alteration or amendment must be presented for comment in the course of said hearing.
Individuals requesting interpreter services for the hearing impaired must notify the Town Clerk’s Office at (401) 635-4400, 48 hours in advance of the hearing date.
